"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.

an avatar has to be 50x50 pixels and it must be less than 15kb in size, you will need to resize the image yourself before you can upload it, it doesnt really work like other websites
